Obverse : "Zhonghua tongbi" 中華銅幣, « copper currency of China », "Minguo ba nian" 民國八年, « 8th year of the Republic ». Reverse : "ershi wen" 貳拾文, « twenty cash ». Cast, illicit coinage. Republic of China (1912-1949), struck in the 8th year (1919). Model : Taiyuan mint tongyuan, Zeno41127.

Dear Charm,
Thank you very much ; I spend about one hour to find these coins without results (I try with the keyword "Fujian" in the research, but no match...) https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=1037 is not clear enough, IMHO it should be separated from Qing. I have not try to find a Republican coins in the Qing section... https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=3705 is good but there are cast coins in the "Machine struck" section... I thing it would be better to choose only one criterium for classification, technology or chronology. |

As you know, I am not specialist in Republican coinage and I had no idea about the origin of this coin. Thanks to Zeno, I learn the history of this tongyuan. Please move to "Gansu Warlord" Kong Fanjin issue. |
